Wedding, Meetings, Dinner

The Bakenesserkerk started small, as a simple wooden chapel in the middle of the 13th century . Since 1992 Haarlem has been known as Strip City. In order to interest a new and younger audience in heritage, it was logical to ask cartoonists to design the stained glass windows. Six cartoonists from Haarlem and the surrounding area made designs for stained glass windows.

In January 2010 the restoration of the church started under the direction of Stadsherstel. After a year of restoration, the church building has been repurposed as an office, but also as an exhibition space for small, temporary exhibitions with finds from the Haarlem soil. A glass partition with display cases has been built in the church, through which you can see the entire building upon entering. The roof has been repainted and has a gold trim.

Bakenesserkerk is a church in the center of Haarlem, located in the Bakenes neighborhood. Striking is the white tower, which is almost equal to the tower of the Grote or Sint-Bavokerk on the Grote Markt in Haarlem. Church services no longer take place in the church. Stadsherstel has renovated the building. The beautiful historic building now serves as a venue for weddings, private dinners, lectures or receptions. In the church there is a permanent exhibition of mineral resources from Haarlem. The white tower is owned by the municipality of Haarlem and is maintained by the municipality.
