Grote Kerk Schermerhorn
Upon entering the picturesque village of Schermerhorn, the Grote Kerk rises impressively at the end of the village street. In the 17th century the village benefited from the prosperity that flowed to the former Schermereiland thanks to herring fishing and whaling, a specialty of the islanders.
In the middle of the rural North Holland village of Schermerhorn is the attractive large church. The Church was built in 1636 and completely renovated in 2017. This makes it an impressive beautiful location and suitable for any kind of event.
In 1636 the Schermerhorn put the Church down in the middle of the village. The building is in a Gothic style and was the heart of the community. The main church is a building with a rich history and a great cultural and historical value.
In 2017 was the great Church completely renovated and restored. By, among other things, remove the grids for the stained-glass Windows and leveling the floor got the Church its original glory back.
The location has parking and a landing stage for boats.
